DUKE WAYNE 23 vs. Pizza By Elizabeth’s 10 According to Duke Wayne team captain Dave “Doodoo” Haley, Pizza By Elizabeth’s has to name a pizza after him. I’m not sure if he was serious or not, but Duke Wayne definitely brought it tonight. After a slow start, Gregg Johnson explained “we just calmed down.” Brian Glanzel connected for two three run homeruns while teammate Brian Glembocki hit a grand slam homerun. Josh Greenberg commented after the victory he pitched “a hell of a game.” (Can’t wait to see what his “BFF” has to say about that…I will let the rest of you in on that joke real soon…) Reia Nelson and Karen Yeasted knocked in singles early in the game. Doodoo also made a nice catch in left field. Meanwhile for Pizza By Elizabeth’s, Tristan Spates made a fingertip catch in right field while Jenni Wright knocked in a single and RBI. Ben LeRoy continued his hot streak with another homerun, knocking in three. Duke Wayne improves to 3-0. (I mean there is simply no way I am going to let the updates get posted without mentioning Andy Waslyns shorts…I really don’t think I need to say more, just look at the pictures in the slide show to the right…) Scratch Attack 16 vs. Oxidized Trombone 1 Scratch Attack climbs over the .500 mark to improve to 2-1 with the easy victory over Oxidized Trombone. Dan Healy made a nice catch at third base and then a few plays later picked up a grounder and flipped it to second base for the out. Jeremy Snapp and Todd Starke each knocked in a homerun. (Way to show up at Bowling on Monday Starke…how to set a precedent…Monday 6:30 Sharp) In a laughable moment, Josie Walker and Kristi Massner both collided after chasing after the ball at second base. The ball fell through their hands but Oxidized’s Trombone’s Fury Fecondo fell down after crossing second base and was tagged out. Brian Fecondo and Greg Vogeley each knocked in singles while Kristen Campbell made an outstanding catch over her head with her outstretched hands. An enthusiastic player, she came to the game dressed for the part, with high socks and black eye smudge under her eyes. “You gotta rock the eye black,” she said smiling. Master Blasters 3.0 11 vs. Fierro Cheese 1 It was the Tony Brown show as he knocked in a homerun and made an awesome catch in the outfield. (Still trying to make up for last game are we TB???You’re never gonna get that inning back my friend, just move on!) Marco Tinor also made a strong throw from third to first and two good catches in the field. Sarah Amon also knocked in a double. Meanwhile for Fierro, Noelle Rogers knocked in a single and scored when Chad McCann produced a double. But Melissa Hall kept an optimistic attitude saying “we have a strong disposition like the color of our shirts.” Note their shirts are yellow. (Note, yellow…like cheese…) Uptown Ballers 13 vs. Catherine Rooney’s 4 Back to back homeruns by Dan Vignole and Brian Newcott propelled Uptown Ballers to the victory. Andrew Jackson (not the President) knocked in two RBI’s while teammate and captain Erika Kurtz had a single. Mandy Brady showed her grit after getting knocked down at second base by Justin Jones of Catherine Rooney’s. Jones later had a nice catch in right field. Teresa “t-balls” Messmore made a nice catch at second base for Rooney’s. (And Welcome to DSL Bowling Teresa!) Wilmington Warriors 9 vs. Washington Street Ale House 0 Both teams went into the game searching for their first victory and the warriors came out on top. Joe Ryan knocked in a triple while Theresa Supinski had an RBI groundout. Captain Jill Disabatino had an RBI single and cheered loudly when Julia Ryan made a nice grab in left field. (Jill cheering?…noooooo)Meanwhile for Washington Street, Chris Fallon made two nice catches in the outfield. Smarter Than Sexual Innuendo 6 vs. 40 Acre Shakers 4 Innuendo picks up their first victory of the season, in extra innings no less. In the early stages of the game, they had four consecutive singles by Joanna Litt, David Yeager, Captain J'Aime Walker and Ryan Ward. Lauren Denis gave Innuendo the lead in the eighth with an RBI single. Meanwhile for 40 Acre’s James Chambers and Mike Corrin had early homeruns. Chambers also had a single that the wind just took and dropped near the pitcher’s mound. Umpire Pete Cappriotti had the call of the night, muttering “Rut-Row” after a bloop single or in his words a “Scooby Doo ball.” (Now THAT I am ticked I missed) Awesome updates provided by Ryan Mignone Amazing pictures by Charlie Lockerman, you can get the pictures off of our Flikr account or you can e-mail Charlie directly at charlielockerman@gmail.com.
