In 2006 I met Jim Miller, Chris Marts, and Jamie Walker. They had been involved with this crazy group of poeple that played Ultimate Frisbee on Saturday's at Rockford Park. It was Martin Raffo and Linsday Tucker that started e-mailing their friends to get them to come out and play. So many people have come to play here and there and eventually the invitation found its way to me. When I arrived I found a crazy man, Matt Tucker (Lindsay's Brother) running around screaming, getting people psyched up and ready to play. After the teams were chosen one of the teams was asked to put on these pink barets with a puff ball on top to act as penny's to distinguish between teams. When I asked him the rules, he said the sidelines are more like "guidelines" and we are pretty relaxed with everything else. It's easy to learn as you go. One thing I can say about Matt is that this man is one of the few adults that I know that would not at all be puzzled if you knocked on his door tomorrow and asked him if he wants to "come out and play". Matt is one of the most fun people I have ever met. I can tell you that everyone I have met through this group are among the most inviting and interesting people I know. It was based on this group that the concept of Delaware Sports League was born. Anyone could join and it does not matter how good you are. Just come out and play! We are happy to have you and the more the merrier! Last year I asked Martin and Lindsay if it would be OK to make Ultimate Frisbee an Official DSL Sport to be sure we would always have enough people to play. Today, in keeping with the spirit of the Original Group it is FREE to all that participate in one of the Major DSL Sports (Kickball, Dodgeball, Wiffle Ball, Bowling). A special Thank You is in order to this group and all that join us on the Ultimate Frisbee field keep in mind...we are joining their league, not the other way around.
