OK Kickball registrations are underway in Wilmo and it is just past noon. We already have 43 Teams, that means only 21 teams left!
We are in our 5th year of DSL Kickball in Wilmington...does that make our Spring & Summer Leagues a tradition? Well a guy can dream can't he :)
Either way there will be people playing Kickball all across the state this spring and summer and we want to make sure you are aware of exactly when registration opens so that you don't miss out. Every year I hear people talking about how this year is the year they want to play Kickball, so for those of you that have only talked about it...
Here is your chance!
For those of you that are returning, welcome back! We are getting prepared. We painted the shed, we are taking inventory on bases and balls, checking in on the field conditions, and making sure you have the best equipment ready to go for opening day. We are gearing up to bring you the level of fun and organization you have come to expect from DSL thanks to our amazing umpires like Rob, Jeremy, Jimmy, Tara, Taylor, Christine, Gregory, Caitlin, and all of the umpires! Without their commitment to everything we stand for in this league, it simply would not be what it is today. That same notion goes for Kenny, Suzanne, Ronnie, Justin, Matt, Brian, Francis, and everyone that helps out in Middletown as well. An announcement we are proud to make is that very soon we will be bringing the incredible Pete Capriotti on board full time to make sure that with all our growth, there is someone other than just me working on this round the clock. Well maybe not exactly round the clock...I digress...
Then comes all of you. Those of you that play know that it can get competitive at times, especially in the Lincoln Division, but in the end the principles upon which this league was founded remain as true today as they did back in '07 when we opened. This is NOT about the athlete, it's NOT about winning. It IS about the people that come to the fields and then go to the bars after wards. This year we will be slowly launching "DSLsocial" which is currently in a beta phase as we get used to running off field events more frequently and it that will certainly be about the people that we can meet off the field as well. Membership to "DSLsocial" comes FREE with your Delaware Sports League membership!
This is our 5 Year Anniversary and for the first five weeks of every registration for every sport the price will be our traditional $45 rate. After that it will be $50.
Thank you for an amazing start to an amazing thing over the past 5 years. We have still have a LOOOONG way to go to get to where I want things with this league to be, but it has been your support, guidance, and most importantly the inspiration that you provide us every season when you tell us how many friends you have made, how much fun you have had, and the amazing memories you have made with DSL members both on the fields, off the fields, as well as in your lives outside of DSL. It all means the world and is the fuel that feeds the fire within us to keep striving to do more and be better. I doubt if we will ever be done with this little project we have going here, but all you have to worry about is showing up, having a good time, and making some new friends.
