Welcome to the Playoffs!!
First of all EVERYONE makes the playoffs in DSL. This was a ton easier when we used to have like 16 teams. Now we have so many it's like a puzzle trying to make every piece fit each season and I have to hand to Capi for making it work season in and season out.
Staying true to that fun spirit and having every team make the playoffs has not changed and neither has what all this means at the end of the day. It means as much now as it did on the playground in 5th grade...absolutely NOTHING.
The playoffs are something that we do...well...because it is fun. I mean tournaments are fun to participate in.Didn't you ever have like a Nintendo tournament with your friends cause just playing games got a little redundant and anti-climactic? People always ask "Well if it is not competitive, why do you have playoffs, why do you keep score"?
First of all, nice try but we have heard that argument before and the reality is that it comes down to choice. We in Delaware Sports League can CHOOSE to understand that we are playing games and that we are playing to have fun and meet people. Secondly, no one is saying that competition is absolutely 100% absent from our games. We are not naive. Competition is fun!
Vince Lombardi once said "Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is..." This is actually one of my favorite quotes and one I choose to live my life by often. However, I think that the level of desire to win should be relative to the importance of the event (and for the record yes we could go on all day about what is important to different people) however I think that it is a pretty sad comment on the state of your priorities if winning a Kickball League is at the top. I say that with love. 
The point is, have fun everyone. You only get one shot at life and why spend even a single second of it angry about a Kickball game? I realize that a bad call can be frustrating and when teammates are not playing to the best of their ability it is a little "ugh" but worrying about any of those things for even more than a second when playing a playground game just isn't worth it.
Enjoy the playoffs, and if you lose, WHO CARES?!! It's a silly game and Dodgeball (another silly game) is right around the corner waiting.
