 Finally...DSL Has Flag Football!

Members have been asking for this since the day we started DSL. We have long since said that I did not in any way want to compete with municipal sports and have avoided Flag Football because we have always felt it can get a little more competitive than we like to be and that there are options in our county Parks & Rec Programs. However we noticed that there are no municipal Coed Flag Football Leagues so we thought we would provide that option.

Also, we have to practice what we preach and if the reality is if we CHOOSE as a group to play for fun and keep it a fun league then it will be!  

In DSL, we play a very loosey goosey version because it's just for fun. No athletic ability what so ever needed. We have our own set of rules that we have come up with to fit what we need. We listened to what our members had to say and we created our version TOGETHER!

Like we said before we never want to take away from the valuable municipal programs provided by our Cities and Counties. If you want to play in a more competitive league we highly reccomend the New Castle County Parks & Rec Flag Football Leagues. They do not offer a Coed option and it is largely for this reason that we have decided to offer one.

Rules

The Games will be 8v8 and I thnk we are leaning towards having things just like Kickball and saying you need to have at least 3 girls on the field at a time. This keeps things light and having a good mix of the sexes makes things more social!  

We are deciding whether we will do quarters or halves, but football is generally quarters so we are leaning in that direction. We will follow general Flag Football rules, but in DSL we like to add our own flavor. So we want you to join in our discussions as we create the best league for us!

Please, Please, Please Don’t Take DSL Too Seriously!

We work very hard to make sure it’s a fun and relaxed league. In just the 3 short years that we’ve been around, everyone in DSL has embraced this concept and that’s the kind of league we want and that we have. Please Do Not Come Out Here Looking For Blood! This is not that kind of league and we will be agressive in protecting our style of play. DSL reserves the right to dismiss without refund any player for arguing too much, yelling at other league members, or creates an uncomfortable environment for members of Delaware Sports League. Just play for fun and you will be fine!

As with all out sports after the games, everyone goes back to our Feature Sponsor Bar and enjoy some delicious ice cold Bud Light and Games After the Games Sponsored by Delaware Lottery. For the record if beer is not your thing have a glass of Diet soda, water, juice, whatever is your style...its about the people not the party.
