Miss Fall Bowling??...DSL Winter Bowling Registration is OPEN!!

Important Note: The Season lasts 8 weeks. If you can not make it one week it is YOUR responsibility to find a replacement or make it up. What is meant by that is if you can not make it, please try and find someone to take your place that you think might enjoy bowlinng with us. The other alternative is to get to the bowling alley at some point during the week and bowl your games. If something comes up on Bowling Night (Monday) please still try to find someone, but if that is not possible please do your best to bowl before the next Monday. Regardless you are still responsible for your $15 that week! We are charged for that space no matter what.

Week 6 Got the Bingo Fix...

Here's What Can Happen at DSL Bowling Leagues...

DSL Magic at the Lanes

I think that as adults we tend to believe magic does not exist. In my opinion the beauty of human spirit is the magic in our world. To me, magic isn't disappearing national monuments or walking through walls. To me, it is the intangible spontaneous moments created out of thin air by the combined hearts of many to produce happiness. There is something magical that happens when people connect with one another in the spirit of helping others. That is what happened during Week 6 of the DSL Bowling League at Pike Creek Bowling Center...

Pick Me a Winner Lindsey...

In preparing for the night I had wanted to do a charity 50/50. I promised my wife Amy that I would send some money to the Delaware Humane Association. I had flyers printed out and everything. Then I started writing a note to the league to give out at at the lanes about the prize for the night being a 50/50 to benefit the DHA. Then I remembered DSL Member Lindsey Ostafy talking to me about her struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. She first told me one night at Logan House after the Wiffle Ball open play. Then she wrote me an e-mail about the MS Walk on April 19th. It just struck me..."Amy my love, I promise I will raise money for the aminals (that is how she says it), but at this moment I am moved to help a new friend." So at the last minute I changed my mind and switched the 50/50 to benefit the fight against MS.

The next winners followed suit and the next thing we knew, the bowlers that were present at Pike Creek Bowling Center that night, all of us, DSL and the Thursday Night Men's League, two groups who have very little in common other than a love of bowling and a love of others, came together and raised more than $400 to give to Lindsey to donate to the MS Society at the Walk on April 19th.

For you DSL Members that do not believe in magic...just look around you...its right in the hearts of your fellow members that you share a field, a court, and a beer with every week.

Thank you DSL and the Thursday Night Men's League. That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen and been a part of.

It was magic...

Truthfully, I thought we would raise around $100 bucks or so. I knew that it would not be much, but at least it would be something. It started with Bowling League Comissioner Scott Mance going around and collecting, and we raised $130. Then the magic started. One of the great guys of the Thursday Night Men's League (our neighbors at the lanes on Thursday nights) came up and said, "Hey, if you guys are doing it for charity, we want in". So two DSL Members, Keri White and Chelsea Johnson went around and collected from the men's league. The number just went up to $200 raised to fight MS. As luck would have it the next winner was Michelle D'Angelo. Those of you who know Michele know she is one of those rare incredible people that just has so much love in her heart. She loves to be involved and she has been an enormouse help to me personally and I am very thankful for the new friendship I have made with her.  She immediatly donated her winnings to the pot!! Now we are at $300!!

PS The truth is I will not be able to do this for every DSL Member. That is something I struggle with, but I have to accept that reality. I know that there are so many of you out there fighting for so many great causes. I can not promise that I will be able to do what we were able to do for Lindsey for everyone, but what I can promise is that even if we can not do something like this we can spread the word about what you are doing for others on MySpace and Facebook. Keep it up guys, compassion and love is the greatest human quality.

A Message From Lindsey:

On Saturday April 19th, Team MS is BS  (my team)  will be walking again at Wilmington's Riverfront for the AIG MS Walk

I know some of you may know this,  and some do not,  but I do in fact have MS and these walks are particularly important to me. I wanted to offer to anyone who is interested to join us on the 19th before wiffleball to walk a couple of miles to raise money and awareness for multiple sclerosis. Its going to start at Frawley Stadium, and just go around the river. I think it would be a great warm-up for wiffle ball, if you ask me. Basically it will cost no money to you, except if you want to donate. You can sign up either to walk or donate on the web page below. I hope you join us, and if not I will see you after the walk on the 19th (because I am unfortunately going to miss this week!) Thanks, and I hope some of you guys can join us!!

That's Me! MS is BS Baby!!

Sincerely,

Lindsey Ostafy
