| LEAGUE SCHEDULE & STANDINGS UPDATES The DSL will produce the schedule for the DSL Bowling League. Each week we will put out a weekly information sheet announcing that week's schedule of matches, up-to-date bowling averages for all players, league standings, a listing of top bowlers, etc. These stats will also be updated on the DSL website.
| TEAMS 4 Bowlers (All teams must have at least one woman) 1 Alternate A team will consist of four players (at least 1 woman on every team and as many as you want – all female teams are perfectly fine!) Remember handicaps even everything out. There must be at least two team members present at the start of the third frame of the first game or that game will be forfeited. If a team does not have a legal team by the normal beginning of the second game, the entire match that week has been forfeited by the short-handed team. Teams may have a total of 5 players on their team rosters but may only use 4 rollers in any given week.
| ELIGIBILITY Only players listed on the official roster are eligible to participate on a bowling team. All players must be registered with the DSL. Any bowler that has bowled more than two matches for a particular team becomes automatically a member of that team and may not bowl for another team. Alternates: All teams may have an alternate on their roster (this is an encouraged practice). Teams may add an alternate at any time. In the event that a team needs to use an alternate other than their registered alternate, that individual will be charged an additional $5 for the evening. ALL TEAMS MUST ANNOUNCE ALL ALTERNATES before the start of the first game that week. Teams may add their alternate at any time throughout the season, but may only have one “Official Alternate” on their roster.
| WEEKLY LEAGUE DUES DSL Bowling League Dues are $15 per week/per person. The Registration Fee will be $30 but this will cover you’re your 1st and Last Week’s dues. The Weekly League Dues Include: - 3 Games of Bowling
- League T-Shirt
- Shoe Rental
- Ball
- League Administration
- DSL Membership
- Bud Light Specials
| GAME PLAY & STANDINGS - Team standings will be determined on a four-point basis.
- Three games will constitute a weekly match.
- Points will be awarded for most total pins by a team in each game (a total of 3 points to be awarded) and for most total pins in the entire match (one point will be awarded).
- These pin totals will include given handicaps.
- Team standings will be configured shortly after the first night to give time to set up our handicapping system.
| FOUL LINES Foul lines for competitive play will be turned off for our leagues. There will be no scoring penalty for foul line violations; however, it is advisable that all bowlers observe the foul line for improved safety considerations. Remember this is meant to be fun! No “OVER THE LINE” Big Lebowski incidents should occur – If this reference is confusing you are obviously VERY Un-Dude and therefore must rent and watch “The Big Lebowski” before coming to our first night of league play! :) *(All jokes in this section will make perfect sense after watching "The Big Lebowski")
| HANDICAPPING In computing individual bowling handicaps, all fractions will be dropped.
A bowler's handicap will be 80% of the difference between the individual's average and 215. “Sandbagging”: Sandbagging (intentionally bowling low scores on a given week to generate a larger handicap score) is an unethical practice and is against the friendly competitive spirit of the Delaware Sports League and is highly discouraged. Obvious instances of sandbagging by any team will be questioned by the DSL bowling coordinator and may result in the forfeiting of post-season play-off opportunities for such a team and may result in the dismissal of that team.
| SCORING ALTERNATIVES Vacancy Score - This score will be used only at the beginning of the season and will be utilized if a team is short players of a full roster. A score of 100 will be used for any vacant bowler. Absentee Bowler Score - This score is used when an already established bowler on a team is unable to bowl on a given night. The absentee score will be ten (25) pins minus the missing bowler's current season average for each game. Substitute Bowler – You may use your registered alternate with no penalty to your team.
| POST SEASON TOURNAMENT RESCHEDULES No reschedules will be allowed. We would like each time to have an alternate. This will help us avoid any empty team spots. Pre-Bowled Games: Generally, pre-bowled games will NOT be allowed. Delaware Sports League is about the people and we are here to make friends and bowl with one another. However we do understand that there are extenuating circumstances that may arise and there may be a need to allow a Pre-Bowled game. The pre-bowled games must be approved by league management and completed prior to that week's match. Pre-Bowled games must be bowled at the bowling alley that we are utilizing. Please notify personnel at the bowling establishment that the scores need to be figured into the upcoming week's match. All weekly dues must be received prior to the Pre-Bowled game.
